Ball bearing units are composed of a cast iron or pressed steel housing that holds a precise broad inner ring bearing. Pre-lubricated units are made to slide onto the shaft. Setscrew locking, eccentric self-locking, and concentric locking are the three locking techniques. Because the bearing's outside diameter and the housing's internal diameter are sphered on cast iron and pressed steel units, the bearing can rotate inside the housing to allow for initial alignment.
