SAOL type heavy series pillow blocks are intended for use in situations requiring one or more floating bearing units due to higher-than-normal temperatures. While the fixed unit keeps the shaft in place, the floating unit permits its bearing to move axially as the shaft expands due to the temperature rise. Additionally, the internal fit of bearings is slack. It has a self-locking collar and a heavy series, self-aligning SMN broad inner ring bearing. The spherical surface of the outer ring is equipped with an external aligning ring. They have oil-tight seals and are typically installed for oil lubrication, while grease lubrication is an option. Every unit is put together using a spacer ring (fixed kind). The assembly becomes a floating unit when the spacer ring is removed.
