MACHINING TOOLS

The process of machining involves removing material from a workpiece in order to finish or shape it into the desired shape. To carry out machining operations on the workpiece, drilling, holemaking, milling, turning, and threading tools are connected to appropriate equipment like lathes, drill presses, or CNC machines. The type of material being worked on and the quantity of material to be taken from the workpiece usually dictate the machine setup. The workpiece can be an existing part, sheets or rolls of stock, or a piece of raw material. Precision measuring instruments, toolholders, metalworking fluids, machine tool accessories, and other supplies help the machining operation run smoothly.
