If you don't need foot valves, you can utilize round hole suction strainers to reduce the amount of solids entering your pump. Their coated steel design protects against corrosion and rust. Steel strainer with a round hole for suction and lay flat hoses. Suction and lay flat hoses are used with a plated steel strainer with typical straight pipe threads to keep debris out of a suction line.
