Ground Joint Couplings
A MALE STEM, WING NUT, and FEMALE SPUD make up the female ground joint, which is an all-purpose connection. The male NPT nipple or stiff connection's NPT threads can be accepted by the female spud's NPT threads. The ground joint is fastened with an interlocking clamp and is frequently used for steam, water, or air. Hose to hose ground joint connections or hose to rigid connections are made simpler by substituting a double or male spud for the female spud of a ground joint coupling. Threaded NPS MALE X NPS MALE are the double spuds used for hose-to-hose connections. The GJ wing nut is NPS as well. The male spud is threaded NPS MALE X NPT MALE for hose to stiff connection.
