Grid Coupling Springs
Grid-coupling springs are a flexible component that provide dampening and resilience in a grid coupling. High Tensile Alloy Steel, alloy steel grid material for grid couplings, including (2) segments and grease, is used for tapered grid couplings in the 1010T through 1140T series and horizontally/vertically split cover couplings. Flexible mechanical connections that need to be lubricated are called grid couplings. They can lessen vibration by as much as 30% and are used to shield equipment from shock loads and vibration. Over time, the spring element absorbs impact energy, lowering the magnitude of peak loads. A larger degree of misalignment is permitted by the steel grid that runs between the hubs.
