Vehicle V-Belts
Vehicle cogged V-belts are single belts that attach to pulleys to transfer engine power to the vehicle's ancillary systems. The belt's breadth is grooved to help disperse heat as it passes against the pulley. For a drive system to function properly, the belt's V-shaped profile must fit into the pulley's groove and the belt tension must be set correctly. The top width is used to categorize these car V-belts. Vehicle cogged v-belts in the most popular sizes are available from Maxtran. Actual measurements may differ somewhat, but 15 series cogged V-belts are nominally 11/16" wide at the top and have a 38° angle where the belt's wedge meets the pulley's groove sides. The 17A series cogged V-belts are nominally 3/4" wide at the top and have a 38° angle where the belt's wedge meets the pulley's groove sides (actual measurements may differ somewhat).
