Spherical Plain Bearings

In tight spaces where a spherical rod end cannot fit, spherical plain bearings offer a compact way to connect moving parts. They have an outer ring with a concave interior surface that matches an inner ring with a convex outside diameter. In addition to handling oscillating, tilting, or slewing movements, these bearings can compensate misalignment between the bearing shaft and housing. They permit rotation in both directions and support shafts under heavy loads at modest speeds. High misalignment spherical bearings can support heavy loads at higher degrees of misalignment because they have a broader inner ring and a bigger outer diameter. For high-capacity applications where strong loads and wear are constant, such as in textiles, mobile hydraulics, and machinery, spherical plain bearings are appropriate.
