Flange Bearings
In flange-mount rolling-element bearings, a shaft that passes through the bearing perpendicular to the surface is supported by a plate that is fastened to a surface. To accommodate the required mounting configuration, the plate is supplied with several bolting patterns. Friction is decreased by the smaller contact surface between the general purpose flange-mount ball bearing and the bearing raceway. Ball bearings can operate faster than roller bearings due to their low friction, but they can support less load. Top brands of all flange mounted bearings are distributed by Maxtran, including 2-Bolt Steel Flangettes, 2-Bolt Flange Units, 3-Bolt Flange Brackets, 3-Bolt Steel Flangettes, 4-Bolt Circle Flange Units, and 4-Bolt Square Flange Units.
